bullet1st December 2007........

Swiftair Maintenance has today taken over all aircraft maintenance at Leicester Airport from R N Aviation, we would like to add our thanks to Ron Neal for the many years of sterling work he has accomplished during this time.  Ron will still be around for a while longer in a consultancy role.

Swiftair Maintenance Ltd is run by Andrew Booth and Mark Davies who are both Licensed Aircraft Engineers and live locally, both fly in their spare time and are members of Leicestershire Aero club.

Swiftair are pleased to announce that after an inspection by the CAA we have today been recommended for the issue of our own BCAR M3 approval.

The Hong Kong flying club has confirmed a short term contract with Swiftair Maintenance Ltd for the current maintenance requirements of it's Slingsby T67 Firefly based in Hong Kong at Sek Kong airport.

Swiftair now have available for hire through the LAC a Grob G115 all composite aircraft.  This is available currently at the same rate as the club 152's.  We can also make this available to customers as a loan aircraft whilst yours is having it's annual check, please contact us direct for details.

The Grob, G-BPKF, has a Lycoming O-235 engine and is very capable of a 100 knot cruise, with two comfy seats and adjustable rudder pedals the Grob also benefits from good all round visibility.  

The aircraft is equipped with a VHF COM, VOR with Localiser and Glide slope, DME, ADF and a Garmin Mode S transponder.

Swiftair are pleased to announce that our Part M, Sub-Part G application has now been approved by the CAA.  Swiftair's unique electronic managament system enables us to remotely manage the Continued Airworthiness requirement of your aircraft while keeping additional costs to a minimum.  Owners are not required to place their aircraft with us to take advantage of this, please contact us direct for further details.  Our G approval covers Gliders and most light single and twin engined aircraft.

We can now confirm the addition of I privalages to our G approval! Basically this means we can renew your ARC should your aircraft be deemed to have been outside of a controlled environment.

We now have our EASA Sub-part F approval in place.  Along with repairs and complex tasks we are additionally approved to undertake the following work:

Aircraft Weighing

Welding, brazing, silver soldering

Manufacture and pressure testing of flexible hoses

Overhaul/Shockload inspection of Rotax Gearboxes

Re-marking of Airspeed indicators

.....and for the Grob 109B

Overhaul of Carburettors, cylinder heads and fuel pumps.

We are able to provide an EASA Form 1 for most tasks, if you have any specific requirements please contact us.

Now confirmed is the appointment of Mark Davies as head of the Technical Committe for this years 25th FAI World Aerobatic Championships.

The British Aerobatic Association with Flying Aces and Silverstone are proud to have been chosen as the organisers of the World Aerobatics Championships 2009. Being held at Silverstone in August 2009, the competition brings to the UK the best Unlimited pilots from around the world, the most physically and mentally demanding level in the sport of Aerobatics.

Swiftair has now been trading for 2 years at Leicester airport and with the support from our many customers old and new has continued to slowly grow and enhance the services we can offer to our customers.  We have this month gained approval from CAA/EASA to carry out magneto overhauls and 500hr inspections and also the overhaul of Carburettors.  This is in addition to the approvals we already hold for welding (Stainless/Mild/Aluminium), aircraft weighing, hose manufacture and pressure testing and quite a few other capabilities too, for instance we can also repair, service and overhaul certified Rotax gearboxes and have 2 staff who have been trained on Rotax engines.  Call us and see what we can do for you...

Swiftair have negotiated the storage of 27 Slingsby T67 firefly aircraft at leicester.  The aircraft will be stored here on a care and maintenance plan until required for further service by theh owners Babcock.

We can confirm that 10 T67 fireflys are to be release for sale.  They will comprise of 3 T67M MkII aircraft with teh 160HP engine and 7 T67M260 aircraft with the 260HP engine.  A viewing day will take place in May and offers will be by sealed bid.  Contact the office for more details if you are interested.
